I’ve been having a great time frolicking around Appalachia and documenting all of the wildflowers I see! 🌿

Pictured: Wild American Carrot (native, not to be confused with the invasive “Queen Anne’s Lace), Knotweed (native), Yellow Crownbeard/ Stick W**d, Chicory (non-native, invasive), Spirea Japonica (non-native, invasive), Oxeye Daisy (non-native, invasive).

Found some Borrichia frutescens (AKA Sea Marigold or Sea Oxeye Daisy) at Skidaway Island State Park just outside of Savannah, GA. This perennial thrives in sandy, loamy soil and can tolerate very salty soil (which makes perfect sense considering it loves to grow in areas prone to saltwater flooding!) Native to the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts.

Scarlet Rosemallow AKA Swamp Hibiscus thrive in swamps, marshes, and very damp areas and are native to Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. I can’t wait try these out!
