An Arctic airmass takes over the lower 48 early next week. Fairly rare to see the entire state of below freezing.

Current forecast for the lower 48 as a whole is an average low of 8 degrees. Over 98% will have freezing temperatures. It would be the worst polar vortex outbreak since January 2014.

It will be warmer in parts of Alaska and even the West coast of Greenland than Texas.
