Frozen pipes are a common occurrence when temperatures plummet, and with them comes the risk of property damage. When the water inside a pipe freezes, the pressure inside the pipe increases. Eventually, that built-up pressure will cause the pipe to burst and the homeowner is left to clean up the mess, often with a hefty price tag.

Here are 10 simple tips you can do to avoid frozen pipes this season.
1. Check around your home to identify areas where pipes may be at risk
2. Insulate your pipes
3. Disconnect hoses and cover hose bibs. If you have frost-free hose bibs, remove the hose.
4. Drain water from pipes likely to freeze, such as your sprinkler water supply line
5. Keep bathroom and kitchen cabinets open to expose pipes to heat
6. Let cold water drip from a faucet served by an exposed pipe
7. Keep garage doors closed
8. Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature during day and night
9. Leave the thermostat set to at least 55 degrees if you plan to be away
10. Ensure proper sealing on all doors and windows

The position being offered requires the knowledge and skills to install and repair plumbing fixtures and faucets in residential and light commercial conditions.

Responsibilities
• Knowledge in the repair of modern and older plumbing systems and fixtures.
• Work indoor and outdoor settings during various weather conditions.
• Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required.
• Employees will be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Complete tasks with proper use of equipment, tools or systems related to performance of assigned responsibilities.
• Working at a different height ranges and spaces.
• Operate vehicles, utility trailers,

Basic Qualifications
• Job will require the ability for heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending twisting, and kneeling.
• Written and verbal communications skills.
• Pass a criminal background check for theft and financial convictions.
• Clean record New York State drivers license.
• Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Perform all job responsibilities safely using personal protective equipment.
• Prolong standing and walking including climbing stairs.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered.
• This job is Full-time and requires full availability Monday through Friday five (5) days per week, and may include some nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Standard working hours 08:00 am to 4:30 pm.
• Dress in a neat clean fashion. Long pants and long or short sleeve.
