If you’re looking for a hydrangea that loves the sun, meet the panicle hydrangea.

Unlike many blue and pink hydrangeas that appreciate some afternoon shade, panicle hydrangeas thrive in full sun and often put on their best show with plenty of light.

Their large cone-shaped blooms start out creamy white and many varieties blush shades of pink as summer turns to fall.

They’re also among the hardiest and most reliable hydrangeas for New England gardens - easy to grow, long blooming, and great for cut flowers with an amazing fall show.

Stop by our Hydrangea Yard and explore favorites like Limelight, Bobo, Little Lime, Fire Light, and Love-a-Lot. 🤍

From June 12–21, we’ll be celebrating one of New England’s favorite summer shrubs. Throughout the festival, we’ll be highlighting different hydrangea types, special varieties, fertilizing recommendations, and pruning tips.

Today’s spotlight: Mophead Hydrangeas. These classic favorites are known for their large, rounded flower heads that create the iconic hydrangea look. They thrive in morning sun with afternoon shade and bring big color to the garden.

The festival concludes with a special talk by C.L. Fornari on June 19th at 1 PM. Advanced registration is required.

Saltmarsh hay is here! The stars and moons and tides must be aligned for this special harvest to happen… and we are celebrating our 30th year in partnership with this local farmer.

Salt Marsh Hay is a great option for mulching vegetable beds because it is w**d free and not only helps suppress w**ds in your vegetable beds, but keeps the moisture in your soil reducing frequent watering.

• One winner per household/family per month
• Must be a Kennedy’s Club member (joining is easy—just provide your email at checkout)

Some days we’re sooo grateful this is where we work! Today, we’re joined by the Hingham Senior Center, who’s set up chairs throughout the garden center to draw, sketch and paint their inspiration.

Running behind this season? We can help with that.

Our drop-in containers are designed to make seasonal decorating quick and easy.

Simply place one into your existing planter and you’re done. Or, let us help you source the right size pottery at Kennedy’s! Our most common drop-in size is 9x9”.

Already have pottery you love that’s needs are larger or smaller? Bring us the measurements and we’ll help match the right size drop-in and pot it up for you each season.

We intentionally plant our inserts so they’ll grow, fill out, and eventually spill over the edges of your container. If there’s a gap between the insert and your pot, try dressing it up with Spanish moss, straw, or even a grapevine wreath.

Pro-tip: Need a little extra height? An upside-down nursery pot or brick in the bottom can do the trick.

(Daily watering still required. We haven’t figured out how to do that part for you yet.)
