Taliesin West • Frank Lloyd Wright .
Nestled in the desert landscape of Arizona, Wright decided to build his workshop and school of architecture for his apprentices. Using local materials to preserve as much of the desert environment as possible, implementing low-slung buildings to reflect the expansiveness of the desert, and merging the structures within the landscape, makes this a proper and respectful architecture in harmony with its surroundings.
Creating a “low profile” type of architecture allows us to appreciate and understand the place where we are situated, as well as giving us a sense of belonging and protection.
Had the opportunity to visit it twice while studying at ASU in Fall 2021 & with the “Cátedra Blanca CEMEX 38”( .mty ) in a design-trip in Spring 2022.
