This kitchen was part of a much larger rethinking of the home.
We wanted to simplify the architecture, improve the way the main living spaces functioned, and create a setting that felt appropriate for the homeowners’ collection of European antiques. In the kitchen, that meant balancing cleaner lines with details that still have a sense of history. The plaster hood, traditional cabinetry, black stone, aged metals and pieces collected over time.
We also extended the prep and serving area, which made a tremendous difference in how the kitchen functions and helped connect it more naturally to the rest of the home.
I love that it feels refined, but not overly precious. It belongs to the house, and to the people who live there.
