“Through the Years: Selected Works” — Kasey Portanova
First Friday | May 1, 2026 | Lost & Found Bookshop LLCI want to thank Kaylee at Lost and Found Bookshop for collaborating with me and allowing me to exhibit my work in her independent bookstore. If you haven’t been yet, please please please go check it out!! They are open Thursday through Sunday. My artwork will be on display (and available for purchase as prints and postcards) for the entire month of May if you didn’t get the chance to come to opening night!

Seeing my work, pieces I’ve created over the past 10 years, displayed together was a feeling I haven’t experienced in a long time. Some were made in high school, many in college, and each one represents a different moment in my growth as an artist. Bringing them all into one space gave me a real sense of accomplishment and new motivation.

For the first time in my life, I’m no longer an active student, but I’m proud to say I am a still active artist. And I’m excited to see what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support me. We had an amazing turnout, and I truly appreciate every single person who showed up. Your support doesn’t go unnoticed! Thank you for being part of this moment.

My kindergarten artists learned all about Pablo Picasso, and they did such a fantastic job with their projects!

We talked about how Picasso didn’t always paint faces the “right” way. He mixed perspectives, moved facial features, and didn’t care about perfection. We had an “art talk” about his work — how it made them feel, and whether they liked it or not — which was actually a pretty impressive conversation for 5 and 6 year-olds.

Students started by painting cardboard faces with Jazz Paint (messy, and a little smelly… but worth it), then molded their facial features with clay to build their own abstract portraits.

Every piece turned out completely different, which is always the best part, and they are really expressive! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Just finished a new medical-legal illustration series!

This three-piece set breaks down a John Doe shoulder surgery into clear, step-by-step visuals designed for the courtroom.

Why does this matter?
Because complex medical procedures aren’t always easy to explain, but they are easier to understand when you can see them.

Medical illustrators help:
• Clarify expert testimony
• Make injuries and procedures easier to understand
• Strengthen visual storytelling in legal cases

Created in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
