We were recently afforded the opportunity to work on a historic home in Scranton, originally owned by a coal baron of considerable wealth. In the early 1900s, an addition was constructed, which included a greatly needed ballroom for dancing.

Nothing to see here, just fungus and algae being SYMBIOTIC (where both parties involved benefit)
Both mosses and lichens are considered non-vascular plants, but only mosses are truly plants, according to the U.S forest service.
Lichens are complex organisms formed by a SYMBIOTIC relationship between a fungus and an algae or cynobacteria.
Here’s a photo of a roof with lichen on it. I am planning to continue researching this as an alternative green roofing system.

I’d like to take the time to dedicate this post to my men .
We mainly specialize in residential roofing,but we were lucky to have the opportunity to work on a larger commercial project.
My men really stepped up to the challenge,navigating a busy and high profile worksite.
The guys really did a great job keeping an orderly and safe job site.
