These handsome siblings are a good example of how divergent the finishes can come out in a soda firing. The taller one, which caught a lot of the sodium v***r in the kiln, developed a glossy sheen that brought out the red tones in the Oregon Brown clay body. The shorter one didn't catch a ton of sodium, and it finished with this darker matte, almost ore-like quality.
The stripes are a porcelain slip mix, and the insides (which also reacted differently in the firing) are lined with a turquoise glaze. Thanks again for the cool workshop ! 🥤🔥
