Wildflower season in the Columbia River Gorge is a little magical. I hiked Memaloose, Tom McCall, and Mosier Plateau last week — all beautiful trails.

Camas is blooming at Mima Mounds, and it is a beautiful, subtle prairie. While the landscape is special, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this hike if you are seeking quiet. It sits next to a shooting range and a remote control airplane field, so it is not the most peaceful experience.

I had the opportunity to visit Vendovi Island Preserve this Saturday, thanks to . A beautiful, mostly forested island with a south-facing cliffside prairie. A lovely hike, with wildflowers at the end.
