Mrs. Lovett
Originally painted without a title, this portrait took on new meaning after attending a local production of Sweeney Todd (starring my nephew, no less). As the character of Mrs. Lovett stepped onto the stage — sharp, cunning, and oddly elegant — her presence struck a chord of recognition. This oil painting, created entirely with a palette knife, suddenly found its name. The knife-work introduces a tactile rawness — a visual echo of the character’s dual nature: composed on the outside, chaotic within. The result is a portrait full of tension and intrigue, where beauty and menace meet in a single, steady gaze.
