Highlights from the 2026 Arkansas Preservation Conference in Hot Springs. It was a great opportunity to explore historic buildings, learn from preservation professionals, and celebrate the places that tell Arkansas’s story. We also enjoyed networking with fellow professionals who are passionate about preserving Arkansas’s historic and heritage buildings for future generations.

Proud to spend the day at Hillcrest HarvestFest 2026 representing both the City Beautiful Commission and Keep Little Rock Beautiful. As the newest Commissioner, it was a great opportunity to connect with residents, promote community beautification efforts, and celebrate one of Little Rock’s most vibrant neighborhood traditions.

A beautiful day, a great crowd, and a reminder that strong communities are built through service, stewardship, and local engagement.

I'm honored to be appointed to the Little Rock City Beautiful Commission. The Commission works to promote the improvement and appearance of our city, provide policy recommendations, and help guide aesthetic quality in public and private development. I look forward to serving alongside fellow commissioners and contributing to the continued beautification and enhancement of Little Rock.

Wisconsin State Capital
George B. Post, Architect
1906-1917

While seeking advanced professional certifications at UW-Madison, Sam took a tour of the state capital.

Built as a symmetrical cross, each wing is identical and houses the Senate, Assembly, Supreme Court and Governor's Office. The dome is toped by Wisconsin (personified), pointing "Forward" (the state motto) with a badger on her head (the state mascot). Badgers are seen throughout the capital, representing the mining industry central to the early history of the state.

Shout out to strict building height restrictions which create density and walkability.
