I'm a dreamer - always have been. I love to plan and organize and have notebooks filled with ideas. My current obsession? Sitting on the tailgate of my truck at the farm and dreaming of what it can be. I reminisce and relive the memories from when I was younger, and dream of how I can implement some of those same things back into the place for my son. My dream is that someday my own grandkids will be telling their friends and family about the great memories they had on this same land. Like I said, I'm a dreamer ❤️❤️

I was recently honored with the request to make muffins for a coffee bar at the local hospital. Blueberry and chocolate chip muffins, and then a few loaves of chocolate chip peanut butter bread for fun!

I've never considered baking to be one of my favorite things, but over the last few years it's helped me slow down and provided me an outlet to escape the chaos for a while. I've already got a long list of items to make and the next two are lemon meringue pie and lemon blackberry cookies! 😍😍

I have so many amazing memories with this mulberry tree. We would pick them until our fingers and lips were purple 💜💜 I've tried to graft it three times and never got it to work. Knowing that this beautiful tree is mine and will soon be overflowing with fruit makes my heart so very happy!!

I'm thinking mulberry jam with fresh biscuits, and maybe mulberry pie with homemade ice cream?! What would you make??

When I bought my town house, I put a rose plant by the front door and it made my heart very happy. I knew that I wanted to line my front yard landscape with different colored roses and when Tractor Supply had theirs? You better believe I grabbed one in every color 🫣😂

This was a little premature since I still have to tear down the house, lay a new foundation, bring in a new house, and build the landscaping up. No big deal, right?

Luckily I have some grow bags so I spent an hour playing in the dirt and transplanting my new roses. It was exactly what my tired soul needed ❤️❤️ I will be able to move them around as needed and they will be nicely established when it's time to put them in the ground - hopefully next year!

Story time!

18 months ago I attempted to buy my grandpa's land (which was still in the family) but it didn't work out. There was no other property locally and I took that as a sign that we should move away from our hometown and build the dream elsewhere.

While we were looking into this option, sickness struck our family. We navigated the challenge as a family and took care of our own. And then the sickness got worse and life became harder. We did what we always do and figured things out, but it felt like darkness was surrounding us.

When we finally came out the other side, Kannon and I decided that we wanted to travel full time and see the world. With me working from home and homeschooling Kannon, it was the perfect set up! We purchased a small camper and started making plans. We mapped out where we wanted to go and the places we would stay. Kannon did a lot of research and we were counting down until we could go. It felt like things were aligning how they were meant to be!

Then the sickness struck again, this time taking a loved one from us. Right before that happened though, I was blessed with the opportunity to purchase grandpa's farm. I could keep it in the family and live the dream I've wanted for 10+ years. It was a very surreal moment, but also confusing as Kannon and I had just spent months planning to travel. I felt torn between two dreams and there were several big talks had about what to do.

Shortly after we got the property, sickness struck again. It's been several months and things are starting to get back to normal, which has allowed us to fully immerse ourselves into the farm. It's going to take a lot of work cleaning it up, bringing in water and a new septic system, plus tearing down structures and putting in a new house. But we are excited to be starting our new journey ❤️❤️

Hi friends! Have I got a story to tell you...a story about changes and growth, adventure and new beginnings...I have a 13 year old now 🤯🤯

I'm hoping to start posting on this page more often now that life is calming down (ha!), but I wanted to make a quick post and tell you to check back in soon. We've missed you ❤️❤️

Oh! And frozen pipes which meant melting snow on the stove for animal water and flushing the toilet 😂🤷‍♀️

Tulips are planted!

I took advantage of some nicer weather and got my hands in the soil 😍😍 I was able to snag some tulips on sale from HollandBulbFarms.com and I planted them in some small crates. I put the planted crates inside our empty chicken tractor to keep small critters out, and we ended up with 11 crates full!

This is my first time growing tulips, and in true Kristi fashion, I ordered a lot 😂😂 We also got a few packages of alliums and one package of lilies that we put in the crates. I ordered some ranunculus corms that I'm going to be playing with soon, too!

Now bring on the sleet and snow that's expected to remind me that we are only in February 😂🤷‍♀️

The future of Krazy K's Homestead has been up in the air for a while....I've been struggling on how to provide the best life for Kannon while also finding peace and tranquility for myself.

Last summer, we had a plan and were going to make a drastic change. We sold all of our outside animals, stored all of our garden supplies, and were ready to go! Then the house sale fell through and we put everything on hold. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason so I leaned into that.

Last fall, we decided to make the transition to city life (not small town) and we're looking into moving to a metropolitan area that would provide more options for Kannon. We researched, we budgeted, we discussed the best option for us and we were getting excited for our new adventure! Then our family received some devastating news and those things came to a screeching halt.

I believe in God and I believe that our plans haven't come to fruition for a reason, even if I'm not always sure what that reason is. Right now, I'm not sure where life is going to take us. My heart is split between living a simpler life, having animals, a bountiful garden and creating beauty with flowers, and giving my son experiences and opportunities to be everything his mind dreams of.

I say this to both apologize for disappearing, and also provide a heads up that you will likely see posts again ❤️❤️ I'm leaning into things that bring me joy - sourdough, flowers, and God's beauty. We are putting a pause on getting anymore animals at this time as a majority of my focus is spent on finishing up my degrees. So if you're still here and following our page, thank you ❤️❤️

Peep how big my now 12 year old is, and how massive Kona has gotten!
