Betcha didn’t know your EV charger should not always be set to match the full size of the breaker. ⚡
EV charging is considered a continuous load, which means the circuit needs a little extra room to safely handle the power being used.
Here’s a simple breakdown:
60 amp breaker → 48 amp charging rate
50 amp breaker → 40 amp charging rate
40 amp breaker → 32 amp charging rate
30 amp breaker → 24 amp charging rate
Making sure your charger is set up correctly helps protect your wiring, your breaker, and your home.
Not sure if yours is set right? Our electrical team would be happy to take a look!
