Our Giving Grove is a small, family-run shop built around two things we love: plants and creativity. She’s a pre-K teacher with a naturally creative mind, a love for people, and a real gift for growing plants. She hand-crafts every kokedama we s
ell, often using plants she has grown herself from seed or propagated at home. She puts a lot of thought into which plants work well together and which ones thrive in this type of display. A kokedama is a Japanese-inspired way of presenting a plant where the roots are wrapped in soil, shaped into a ball, and covered with moss. The plant grows out of the moss ball, giving you a sculptural, natural look that can sit on a stand or hang. It’s one of our specialties, but far from the only thing we make. Joe is the manager of the operation—the one making sure everything runs the way it should. He handles advertising, organizing, behind-the-scenes setup, and connecting with people. With over 20 years in sales and a love for technology, he keeps the business side moving. And if you stop by our table, he’s always ready to talk NFL or MLB with anyone while Sara talks plants. We grow a wide range of houseplants, from everyday favorites to harder-to-find varieties. We pair them with our own custom 3D-printed pots and accessories to give each plant its own personality. We also create earrings, keychains, plant buddies, and other plant-inspired items as ideas come to us. Everything is designed, printed, grown, crafted, and prepared by us at home. The name Our Giving Grove is a nod to Sara’s favorite book, The Giving Tree, and also a play on our hometown, Selinsgrove. It fit what we wanted to build and just sounded right. This shop is our way of sharing what we love with our community and having fun while we do it. Hope you enjoy what you see!
