Damisi LLC's journey began on May 24, 2020, in a small two-bedroom apartment in Seneca, South Carolina, during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. The vision of Jessica Lynne Johnson, a Marine Corps veteran, it embodies her passion for hospitality and her unwavering determination to pursue her dreams. "Damisi," meaning "cheerful and sociable" in Swahili, was born during a culinary arts class
assignment at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2009. Despite the challenges she faced—including illness and homelessness, which prevented her from completing her course—Jessica’s resolve never wavered. In 2022, she seized the opportunity to continue her education at the prestigious Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, driven by her recognition of the skills needed to bring her vision to life. While her ultimate goal isn’t to become a chef, her studies in culinary operations and Hospitality & Restaurant Management lay the foundation for her ambitious hospitality ventures. In every sense, Damisi’s is Jessica’s, and Jessica is Damisi’s—the brand and its founder are one.
**About Damisi LLC**
Damisi LLC is a dynamic and multifaceted organization, driven by the passion and creativity of its founder. It houses several distinct ventures, including:
Damisi’s Catering is a young business that offers a wide range of services, from menu costing to event planning.
- **Damisi’s Karaoke Bar & Soul Food Bistro/Cafe** *(Future Project)*: A vibrant venue blending karaoke and soulful dining with features such as a tobacconist & bourbon lounge, rooftop bar, and sports bar (which will be a Primanti Bros if they'll permit it).
- **Damisi’s Dorp** *(Future Project)*: An extraordinary bed-and-breakfast village where luxury meets the great outdoors. The main house, reminiscent of a majestic log cabin, boasts a state-of-the-art kitchen serving the entire village, a four-lane bowling alley, pool tables, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a bar, a partially enclosed heated swimming pool, four en suite rooms, and an extensive wraparound deck which transitions into an elevated trail meandering through the surrounding trees. Adjacent to the main house is a five-car garage, above is a five-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom residence suitable for accommodating large families, bands, wedding parties, and other gatherings. From the main house's deck, one can observe the impressive amphitheater/outdoor movie area equipped with cutting-edge audiovisual technology. Built-in seating is available, although guests are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, or golf carts provided by the village. The amphitheater can be covered in inclement weather and heated during colder months, ensuring uninterrupted entertainment regardless of the conditions. The property will feature 20-30 luxurious treehouse cabins, each boasting a distinct style and size. No two treehouses will be alike. Each one will be fully equipped with modern amenities. The treehouses can be accessed via the elevated trails originating from the main house or the illuminated stained-glass trails on the ground that traverse the property. These trails are illuminated at night, allowing guests to explore the grounds at any hour. Numerous gazebo fire pits with comfortable seating are strategically placed throughout the woods, providing respite during leisurely strolls. The state-of-the-art kitchen in the main house will serve delectable African American soul food dishes, complemented by weekly specials inspired by cuisines from around the world. The signature dish is a tantalizing combination of fried chicken, red velvet waffles, and cream cheese mashed potatoes. The dining theater is designed with the aesthetics of an opera house, featuring box seats reminiscent of Broadway yet maintaining an intimate atmosphere. A combination of small and large tables with tablecloths will occupy the floor, while the box seats will serve as exclusive VIP areas. The dining theater will have its own bar and a well-equipped kitchen. It will host burlesque shows, an in-house band, and performances such as comedy, open mic events, or theatrical productions if a company desires. For those seeking equestrian pursuits, Damisi's Dorp offers stables with 13 horses, allowing guests to enjoy horseback riding on designated trails within the village. Fishing and a water play park are available at the lake, a short walk from the main house and garage, and visible from both locations. Marine Corps-inspired obstacle and confidence courses along the trails are available for those seeking physical challenges and aspiring to stay in shape. At Damisi LLC, creativity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence merge to create experiences that leave lasting impressions. From catering exquisite soul food to designing spaces that harmonize luxury and nature, Jessica Lynne Johnson and Damisi LLC aim to inspire and delight, one venture at a time.
