Nestled deep within the forested mountains of the Pacific Northwest, the Storm King Residence was designed to feel both protective and open — a quiet refuge shaped by the dramatic landscape around it.

Angular roof forms echo the surrounding peaks while warm cedar interiors and expansive glazing create a constant connection to the trees, light, and distant ridgelines. Zen view windows provide glimpses of the massive moss-covered boulders surrounding the house. Every space was designed to heighten the experience of nature, weather, and stillness.

Understanding proportions, views, material transitions, and light quality is what elevates a design to something timeless and functional.

This project is grounded in place. Oriented to the Olympic Mountains and the natural light that’s so important for Pacific Northwest living.

The structure is up. The fireplace is in. The window wall is installed. Soon this will be all warmth, views, and quiet mornings.
