Today was a success I feel. I all of the pieces for the 8’ table cut, planned, and all that could be glued have been glued and clamped. Just ran out of clamps. Now, I’m finishing a bowl. I undercharged terribly for this table if it turns out right.

Ok. The bottom is flattened out the best I can for this one. Support beams are recessed into the wood and screwed in. Tomorrow I’m starting on the pedestal and top arms. I can’t flip the table top over by myself so I’ll have to wait until Monday when my son is home.

Ok. I think I’m going to do some sanding then stop for the night. Went to start drilling the holes in the support steel and p**f! There goes my metal drill bit. At least I got the recesses sunk in.

Custom router sled/flattening jig has been constructed. Those are 3/8 inch thick steel L shaped bars that will be used to hold the router while flattening the table top. To cover 8 feet I had to go steel. lol.

Well, things are about to get busy here at the shop. Just had an order for six 6 foot farm tables. I just built the router sled for the 8 foot one and I have all the clamps I feel I should need. Time is a factor in these builds as it’s for a wedding. I was given the okay if I don’t get them all done in time as there will be many more weddings there. BUT, I will do my best to finish those tables. It’s going to be rough since this isn’t a full time job yet. But hopefully soon it will be. Thanks all.

Rough turned a couple more pieces today. There isn’t a way around building a router sled to cover the large 8 foot table so I ordered the steel for the carriage. It should be here tomorrow. I pick up the wood for the sled rails from Lowe’s tomorrow after work. The rough turned bowls for your time. 17 inches or so each.

Rough turned two pieces from the fresh wood from today. Piece of cherry and maple. Had to clean the lathe afterwards. I’m now beat for the day.
