There is a reason we did not name ourselves, Aubrey Faatz “Home Builders”
We do not just build, what we do is a craft, an art we believe that there is heart in the words Home crafters!!! We want our heart to show in each of our projects.

Some projects are special from the very beginning, and this charming Beach cottage is certainly one of them.

For this wonderful family, this Brunswick county island isn’t just a vacation destination—it’s a place filled with lifelong memories. Since childhood, the homeowner spent summers on this very street, making memories with family and dreaming that one day she might have a place of her own nearby.

Years later, while walking the neighborhood with their four children, they spotted a homeowner placing a “For Sale By Owner” sign in the yard. They immediately knew this was their opportunity. Sometimes the right home finds the right family.

After purchasing the cottage, they began searching for a contractor who could see beyond what the home was and envision what it could become. We were honored that they trusted Aubrey Faatz Home Crafters with that responsibility.

Like many coastal projects, the permitting process required patience, but the moment we received the green light, our team got to work.

Our goal was never to erase the home’s character or history. Instead, we carefully preserved its original charm while thoughtfully matching the existing character. Every square foot of this home was touched—new plumbing, new electrical, reimagined living spaces, expanded outdoor entertaining areas, custom shutters, beautifully crafted IPE (Brazilian hardwood) decking, and countless details designed to honor the cottage’s original spirit.

Inside, timeless selections were chosen to ensure this home feels just as beautiful decades from now as it does today. Herringbone tile details, marble flooring, classic kitchen finishes, soaring original cathedral ceilings, improved laundry functionality, and windows galore capturing views of the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway all come together to create a space that feels both fresh and familiar.

One detail especially important to the family was preserving the original brick driveway. Because it was grandfathered in and part of the property’s history, we worked diligently to save and incorporate it into the finished design.

Perhaps the most rewarding part of this project was watching this sweet family grow. During the remodel, their family of six became a family of seven. Knowing this cottage will now be the backdrop for generations of memories makes every challenge worthwhile.

What makes this project even more meaningful is that these homeowners are highly respected design professionals themselves. Their trust in our team is something we do not take lightly, and it remains one of the greatest compliments we can receive.

This home may be modest in size, but it is enormous in character, craftsmanship, and heart. We are incredibly proud to have helped create a home away from home for such a kind family and cannot wait to see the memories they’ll continue making here for years to come.

This little bathroom may only be approximately 5’ x 5’, but it proves that great design isn’t about square footage—it’s about thoughtful planning and attention to detail.

This European-style wet room features a classic pedestal sink, toilet, and shower, all wrapped in timeless black-and-white finishes. We paired marble-inspired wainscoting on the lower walls with white penny tile and black grout above, then tied everything together with matte black fixtures and hardware for that perfect old-world charm.

What makes a wet room so unique is that the entire space is designed to be waterproof—from the walls to the floors—using our American-made waterproofing system that we are certified to install. Every measurement must be carefully planned and precisely executed to meet code requirements while maximizing every inch of usable space.

In this particular home, built in the 1960s, there was already a very small three-piece bath. We loved the idea of preserving that functionality while bringing it up to today’s standards. Sometimes that means presenting creative solutions and helping everyone involved understand design approaches that aren’t seen every day. We enjoy finding ways to make unique ideas work while still meeting modern building requirements.

Wet rooms are an excellent solution for guest spaces, pool baths, older homes, additions, and anywhere space is limited but functionality is essential.

This room is packed with character, charm, and purpose.
And the best part? We have three more wet rooms coming up and can’t wait to share them with you.

Aubrey Faatz Home Crafters Inc. has done it again, it’s Finally Finished!!!!

“The Founders Room” that’s what we’re calling it!!! Although not the founders of The original Rourk House, we are the founders of ….”The Rourk House by Faatz” it’s an EXPERIENCE, it’s an overnight stay, it’s a party, or a dinner …..it will be even more !!! In this room as we have added our own unique design, will also be adding personal family Photos soon to this room!!! We could not be more happy with how it turned out!!! Building a Custom banquette with old world meets a touch of mid century modern was definitely the right choice!!! The custom tweed cushions and the Embellished wallpaper, the Ethan Allen table is currently a place holder but suits the space for now… the little chandelier adds a little jewelry to the room, and that BLUE!!! An old world coastal vibe!!!
Our vision for this room has truly come to fruition, with the help of the Home Crafters construction team and the Home Crafters dynamic design team!!! While the overall vision for this room was carefully curated from the beginning, we are in awe of the collaborative efforts of our amazing design team and the creativity that helped polish the final result!! Bringing old homes back to life is part of what we do. Flood houses, neglected properties, homes that everyone else has given up on — this is part of our wheelhouse.

We are born and raised locals who believe in restoration over demolition when we can, and we’ve seen some things.
But this one? This one is different.

This waterfront home was built in the 1960s — someone’s dream, someone’s excitement, someone’s fresh start. Two sides of water. Incredible bones. And for years, it sat completely abandoned, deteriorating, while everyone who looked at it as a House of Horrors …turned and walked away.

The story of what happened inside these walls is one we’ll share carefully and respectfully as we go— real people, most…now gone, lived here, and their situation was nothing short of unfortunate, NOT OK, and tragic.

What we will say is that the conditions were extreme, and what was left behind… you’ll see for yourself.
No investor wanted it (but us!!) No one would touch it.
We said yes!!! We LOVE a challenge!

Aubrey, myself, and the Aubrey Faatz Home Crafters team are taking this property on the right way — full remediation, full renovation, done with the same care and craftsmanship we bring to every single build. This house was built with love once. It deserves to feel that way again.

Our faith is no secret around here — we firmly believe that anything can be redeemed. Any structure. Any story. Any place the world has written off.
