This is the consequence of installing a deck over siding. A client hired us to demolish and rebuild her deck. Upon removing the ledger board, we discovered that the lags were loose, indicating a significant issue. After removing the siding, we found this problem. If we had not removed the siding to properly install the new ledger board, this issue would have gone undetected. For those interested in building a new deck, it is essential to research and hire an experienced contractor to ensure the job is done correctly. I frequently encounter these issues and have been underbid numerous times, only to be called back to rectify others' mistakes. Please conduct thorough research before hiring the lowest bidder, as the cheapest option is not always the best.
