When we bought the house in September of 2020, folks thought our caution tape around the property was Halloween decor. But in reality, every entrance to the home was a danger zone -truly an Enter If You Dare situation. Just during our initial tour of the home, Liz fell through the back deck and our realtor's husband almost took a tumble on some loose bricks on the front walk. One of our first projects was removing the dangerous bricks. some of them were just sitting on top of the sidewalk, some had been glued using a construction adhesive. many of them crumbled to bits.
the project seemed to last forever and at one of our gatherings a friend asked "do you need help in here (the kitchen) or should I just start moving bricks?" the bricks haunt many to this day, and the whisper of moving bricks to re-do the basement walkout patio is enough to send them running for the hills.
The front walk still has a way to go, but at least it isn't quite so treacherous anymore.
