Here's just a quick look at our last contract where we cleared a path through the trees and dense underbrush. In addition to cutting a 12' wide road along all four sides of the property, we accumulated and relocated all pre-existing downed limbs, logs, and other vegetative debris within 15' of either side of the road. Once all of the debris and material had been removed, we finely graded and leveled the road to eliminate terrain abnormalities and to prevent erosion.

Did some major land clearing and reclamation today in Bethel Acres! We used the the brush cutter to reclaim large areas of sand plum thickets, sprawling blackberry bushes, and lots of entangled briars/vines. Spent a little extra time making multiple passes to mulch all the debris down as small as possible. We also removed countless cedars, black jacks, and locust trees scattered throughout the pasture, most of them were easily uprooted out of the sandy soil, but some of the larger ones were cut below ground level with the tree saw. The tractor and grapple was busy following behind the skid steer gathering and stacking all of the downed brush and trees.

Spent today doing some routine upkeep get ready to clear some more property tomorrow! Blackjack saplings, sand plum thickets, briar patches, and black berry bushes are on the menu for the Ground Sharks lunch tomorrow. All the equipment has been thoroughly cleaned and greased, brushcutter blades have been sharpened, saw teeth have been sharpened/filed, and the skid steer is full of diesel and ready to go!

This is a look at the latest reclamation contract after only making a rough pass with the brushcutter. This was before any debris or trees were removed.

Well the reclamation is complete and the difference is unbelievable. Worked the machine a little harder than usual today in an effort to finish things up before the bitter cold weather blows in tomorrow. There was more debris throughout the work site than we initially thought, including entire intact trees that had been either uprooted or broken off close the ground, stacks of large logs pushed aside by the previous land owner, and numerous tree tops that had broken out. One log was so large it was tipping the skid steer forward and pulling the back of the tracks off the ground! After making a rough cut pass with the Bradford Ground Shark brushcutter to access the trees we removed and to open the area up to reveal debris, the Marshall Tree Saw made short work of the dozens upon dozens of large Cedars and small-medium sized Oak trees. The nice thing about the Marshall Saw is, when the operator shears a tree, the saw blade makes the actual cut by shear force instead of rotating at high speeds. This means dirt doesn't dull the teeth, and thus gives us the capability to cut trees either flush with or below ground level, leaving no stumps to contend with. After cutting all the trees the next step was to start at one end of the site, and work towards the other end gathering and stacking the debris into burn piles along the way. After collecting the all of the debris large enough for the grapple to carry without falling through the tines, the brushcutter came back into play. We made several forward/backward passes over the entire area to cut every vine, bush, and sapling as low and clean as possible and to mulch any debris left behind after the collection phase. The hardest part of the entire contract was the wild hedge/vine on the eastern fenceline. The material had very long, thin, limbs that, instead of being cut and mulched, just wrapped around the brushcutter spindle. The only feasible way to get the area cleared was to use the teeth on the grapple to scarify the top soil and rip everything up by the roots. There were "grapevines" 2-3 inches in diameter entangled within the hedge, and tightly wound around three trees. These vines were so strong we actually ended up literally snapping the trees off at the ground when we grabbed all the hedge/vines with the grapple to shuttle it to the burn pile.

All in all, everything went extraordinarily smooth and the clients were very pleased with the end result! Looking forward to many more projects to come with this great couple and seeing the amazement on their faces when they see the vast improvements we make!

Started our extensive property reclamation contract for our client in McLoud today. This is phase 1 of a 3 phase project, with the possibility of additional work. We are currently in the process of performing the first phase, which entails clearing a very large overgrown area about 50-70 feet deep on average running half the length of the clients fenceline, roughly 75-100 yards long. The underbrush is so dense with blackjack saplings, vines, briars, wild hedge, and small cedars that a rabbit couldn't run through the thicker portions.

In addition to clearing the under brush, we're removing any and ALL Cedar trees we encounter in the work area, selectively removing any trees that are impeding the growth of larger, healthier, more valuable trees, removing numerous dead trees as big as our Skid steer's tree saw can cut, removing any preexisting fallen trees and tree debris within the underbrush, and finally, removing a sizable section of wild hedge/bush. Per the clients specifications, all debris that is produced from both our own removal/clearing, and all of the preexisting debris, is going to be gathered and placed in multiple stacks to be burnt off at a later date by the homeowners.

Watch for more progress pictures coming soon documenting the landscape transforming from an unsightly and uninhabitable wilderness, to a clean and open looking front yard. The finished product will be refined and ready for the homeowners to plant Bermuda and install playground equipment this spring!!
