It’s been a while since we have posted. Most construction finished back in October after a year and 9 months! We used the last couple months of the year to get settled.
As spring unfolds, we have been working in the yard and identifying and finishing out some of the “last” projects. We still need to get some stucco work done, some masonry re-painted. Some original sinks & a tub reglazed, a handful of doors still don’t close properly… but I’m sure this type of list will go on for the rest of my life 😅🤣
For now, we are enjoying being back in our “heart home”.

Good morning from the Anthony home!
This year, we cut down our tree. We haven’t ever done that before. Eliza kate and Donald found this beauty and the rest was history. When we got it home, Donald realized that the trunk was showing basically all the way down 🤣… throw enough lights and your favorite ornaments on it and voilà!
Here are a few of our favorites. Merry Christmas!! 🎄🎁 ⭐️

Today the aluminum siding started coming off… We plan on updating to James Hardie siding while also putting the lap of the boards back to what wider look they had originally been.
Laura’s stepdad, Mike, installed this siding around 20 years ago and it’s cool to see his finger print on the insulation board underneath. He worked for abc Seamless Siding for over 20 years and loved his job. 🤍

Yesterday we had the privilege of bringing this beauty back to its original home. This pier mirror originally lived here in this very spot in the front hall when Laura’s great grandparents, Oliver and Harriette lived here. After Harriette’s death in 1977, it went to live at her daughter Harriette’s house in Greensboro. Recently her daughter, Betsy (that’s the granddaughter of The original Harriette) reached out and asked if we would like to have it once construction had finished & of course we said YES!
We are so happy to have it! 💜

Here’s what yesterday’s work produced! We love it!
Not sure how much grass we will be able to get to grow with Fauna (the small pony) gallivanting all over the yard but for the past several weeks, we’ve had truck loads of top soil brought in and tons of mulch to create mulched areas where she had been walking for the past year and a half in the hopes that she would stick to those paths 🤞🏼

The guys of FP Lawncare are here today getting our rock path back in place, new mulch beds, a few boxwoods, azaleas and a hydrangea planted, and some grass seed sown. We are so excited to have a yard and not a construction zone!

We found these while cleaning out a while back. They must have been part of a “Welcome to Shelby” packet. We thought the new owners of the The Rogers Theater would appreciate the 2 free tickets in the packet.
This house is like a time capsule. So many cool things! 🤍
