Prepared this early so you and your dogs may benefit from it this upcoming Fourth of July. Some good tips to help your dog survive the fireworks.
Make it a non event. Sounds boring but is better for your dogs. Business as usual and ignore the noise. Your dogs should do the same. Play the sounds on your phone or TV in advance to start getting them desensitized. If they react, ignore. The worst thing you can do is coddle them. That will reinforce the unwanted behavior. Reward calmness, and encourage settle.
Also have them wear a life jacket when on a boat, near the water or in the water. Every fourth of July at the lake there are fatalities involving dogs that could’ve been prevented with a life jacket.
