New 10 inch baskets delivered to retail today. That front basket is Proven Winners new double grapefruit calibrachoa. Beautiful flower but wins the award for worst selling basket of 2026. I’m beginning to think that a lady would need to be drunk, high on mushrooms, or blind to buy one. I guess that’s just the way some years roll.

The black petunia is still very popular. Let me tell you about this combo. It has a black sweet potato in it which means we don’t treat it with any growth regulators. This pot became a monster and grew so much I was forced to trim it back to the edge of the pot and basically I grew it twice. It is beautiful today and we have moved them to our retail site at Shelton. My recommendation would be to plant it in at least an 18 inch diameter pot and a whiskey barrel would be even better. It will bloom like a fool until the first hard freeze and no deadheading required.

If you’re seeing a video on Facebook where the lady rips a hanging basket in half and plants it in her pot it’s bad advice. From what customers are telling me the success rate is less than 50%.

This year will end as all the others have. We will remain open daily, 9am to 7pm, until July 3rd and will close for the season starting July 4th. We have excellent quality remaining in baskets AND bump up pots. We still have a great selection of 3 inch discounted annuals. On July 5 we will begin repairing hail damage and planning for 2027. As always we thank all of our supporters and invite you to fill those last empty pots sitting in the corner of the garage.
