As you think ahead to this weekend, see if you can accommodate a super-early, pre-dawn adventure for you and your kids!
The Orionid Meteor Shower peaks this weekend, and if clear skies allow, it could be quite a show -- up to 20 meteors per hour.
The Draconids earlier this month were drowned out by the full moon, but this weekend's crescent moon will allow for darker skies and clearer views of the bright meteors.
Find a location away from light pollution, bring a beach chair or sleeping blanket, lie back and scan the sky.
(I've seen the peak listed as either Friday morning or Saturday morning.)
