Pollinator Border Planting Plan

๐Ÿ If bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds skip your yard, your garden may be missing layers.
Pollinators love gardens that offer food at different heights, bloom times, and landing zones. A flat bed with one type of flower often does not hold their attention.

๐ŸŒฟ Build a layered border instead. Use low-growing plants like creeping thyme and low sedum at the front edge. Add catmint, lavender, and coreopsis in the mid-front layer for color and nectar.

๐ŸŒผ In the middle and back, plant coneflower, black-eyed Susan, anise hyssop, Joe Pye w**d, bee balm, and tall garden phlox to create height and movement.

โœจ This kind of planting plan does more than look pretty. It turns your border into a living buffet for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Better get out to our Greenhouse/Nursery this weekend before all of our plants are gone!!! Weโ€™re only 6 1/2 miles East of Mayflower, trust me it will be worth the drive!

In a world that moves faster every day, there is something deeply grounding about tending a garden.

Gardens teach us patience. Pollinators remind us that every living thing has a role. The changing seasons show us that growth takes time, and that every harvest begins with a tiny seed.

Whether you grow a backyard vegetable patch, keep a few raised beds, or dream of a simple homestead life, you're part of a tradition that connects us to the land, our food, and each other.

May we never outgrow the joy of growing, preserving, and sharing what the earth provides. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ‹

What are you growing this season?

06/04/2026

๐ŸŒฑ Most people think gardening is about growing plants.
But what if it's actually about growing yourself?
The scent of fresh soil has been linked to higher serotonin levels, helping lift your mood and ease stress. Getting your hands dirty does more than connect you to natureโ€”it may also support a healthier microbiome and overall well-being.
Studies have shown that spending time in a garden can help reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, improve focus, and even ease some symptoms associated with ADHD. Thereโ€™s something powerful about planting a seed, caring for it, and watching life unfold before your eyes.
Every flower that blooms, every vegetable that grows, and every w**d you pull is a reminder that growth takes timeโ€”and so do we.
Gardening isn't just a hobby.
It's therapy without walls.
It's exercise without a gym.
It's mindfulness without a meditation app.
And perhaps that's why people who spend time in gardens often report feeling happier, calmer, and more connected to life itself. ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿ’š
