🎥SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT🎥
This week, R&R Handyman wants to shine the spotlight on the incredible work being done through The Kronos Project, a program focused on changing prison culture from the inside out by addressing the root causes of criminality instead of only the effects.
Founded through decades of experience working inside correctional institutions, Jeff Hunsaker and Willie Davis have dedicated over 30 years to understanding the reality of prison systems and the people within them. Their mission is simple but powerful: true rehabilitation cannot happen through punishment alone.
The Kronos Project focuses heavily on childhood trauma, emotional healing, accountability, and helping incarcerated individuals believe they are worthy of both giving and receiving love. Their work challenges the idea that prisons should only deal with the effects of crime rather than the causes behind it.
One of the most powerful messages shared during the meeting was:
“The master cannot train the slave for freedom.”
This program is not a traditional reentry program, it is about creating internal change first. Kronos works through small group community building, trauma work, behavioral understanding, and communication methods that allow people to truly address who they are at their core.
Their work has reached institutions including Marion, Chillicothe, ORW, London, Florida programs, and even Ohio State Reformatory, famously known as “Shawshank.”
Another quote that stood out:
“It’s not a book, it’s a seed. Plant the seed inside the system and see where it goes.”
The Kronos Project is funded and operated through third party support working alongside institutions, helping bring hope, healing, and transformation where many people believe it’s impossible.
Programs like this remind us that real change starts by understanding people, not just punishing them.
