Seasonal shelf staging is one of my favorite types of design! These are built in shelves, but you can achieve the same effect with any shelf or bookcase. The color palate in the house is very neutral, but the wall paint is a muted grey, blue green. I think it’s important to coordinate seasonal decor with the existing color palate of the house, or else it feels cheap and overdone- so I left a few items that pulled that color: the ombré glass hurricane on the top shelf, the old book on the second and the vintage globe on the bottom. Then I pulled in some warmer autum colors with wood boxes and a lantern and leather books. Finally I made sure to add a bit of metallic to each shelf, it’s beautiful with candle light. Once the base layers are done, it’s easy to pop in one bright color, like the fresh orange pumpkin and bright orange book, without it feeling garish and cliche.

Shelf staging is one of my favorite types of design. These are custom built in shelves, but you can achieve the same effect with any shelf.
