Instead of carrying your own heavy soil bags out to your car, consider driving around to roadway and having them loaded for you! The process is simple, quick, and easier than you think. Just ask the cashier for the bags you want, drive around to our gate on Midvale (there’s a big sign on it, you can’t miss it), hand roadway your receipt and pickup slip, and they’ll take care of the rest.

While Sungold tomatoes are definitely our most popular variety (and for good reason!), we carry up to 60 unique varieties of tomatoes to choose from! Here’s a couple factors to keep in mind when picking your perfect tomato:

🍅 Indeterminate vs Determinate 🍅
Indeterminate tomatoes can grow up to 7 feet, making them a great pick for trellises. Due to their size, it can be helpful to keep them pruned. They produce a steady crop of tomatoes throughout the season until frost!

Determinate tomatoes are more compact, which makes them great for containers. They don’t require pruning, and produce one crop of tomatoes per season within a short window.

🍅 Days to maturity🍅
Most tomatoes take between 55-90 days to mature, depending on the variety (many cherry tomatoes can take less time to produce, while beefsteaks tend to take more). Due to our chilly PNW climate and short summer season, picking a tomato with shorter days to maturity means a greater likelihood of success. Varieties like beefsteaks can be very flavorful and unique, though, and are definitely worth the effort!

🍅 A note on our tomato table organization 🍅
Under the big tomato sign in the greenhouse is where you’ll find four tables worth of tomatoes to choose from! The tables are organized into beefsteaks, globe & salad, sauce & paste, and cherry. The rows down each table are also alphabetized, which will help you find what you’re looking for!

If you’re looking to add tomatoes to your veggie garden, you’re not too late! Tomato planting season extends through the end of May, so there’s lots of time to pick out tomatoes for your garden! For more info on tomatoes, check out the link in our bio.

🌷Mother’s Day is on May 9th!🌷
We know everyone’s really excited to shop for flowers and cute trinkets, but it’s worth checking out what we have in Hardgoods too! All jokes aside, quality rakes, shovels, hoses, and fertilizer can make a gardeners job a lot easier. After all, you can only keep a hanging basket happy for so long without the right things to take care of it. Take it from a gardener, flowers are always appreciated, but so is good fertilizer!🪴

Moms, let us know in the comments what you really want for Mother’s Day!

Worried about plants taking longer to bloom this year compared to previous years? Never fear! When temperatures stay cold later into spring (which has been the case this year), cold soil signals to plants to stay in dormancy longer. While it may appear that something is off, your plants are perfectly healthy! Delaying bloom time in colder weather (especially as nighttime temperatures can be much colder) ensures that delicate buds won’t freeze, and when your plants do bloom, they’ll be opening up to the warm weather they need.

Trust that your plants understand the temperature! Sunny days are in the forecast this week…hopefully we’ll be seeing more blooms soon☀️

Hanging baskets are officially here, and the greenhouse is looking gorgeous! 🤌🏼 We’ve got a great array of mixed sun and shade baskets, including geranium, fuchsia, and begonia. Arriving this week will be petunia, larger fuchsia, and calibrachoa lotus vine baskets. Once the weather begins to warm, we’ll be seeing more tuberous begonias, New Guinea Impatiens, and baskets of varying sizes (16”to 9”) arriving each week. Stay tuned!

Most of our baskets are sensitive to frost, and can be damaged without cold protection. While you’re shopping, keep an eye out for blue signs with frost warnings on certain baskets: these are especially prone to cold damage!

We’ll continue to receive hanging baskets throughout the spring, with our biggest shipment coming in on Mother’s Day week! You can avoid the crowds of this busy holiday by coming in during the week prior😉

Itoh Peonies are in, and they’re getting ready to bloom! This variety is particularly special- Itohs are a Japanese hybrid of tree and herbaceous peonies, making them an exceptionally sturdy, disease-resistant showstopper that will hold up against PNW springtime wind and rain. The large blooms are also gorgeous, and come in shades of orange, yellow, and pink. Come check them out, many of them are in bud now and will be blooming very soon!

Welcome to our April Fools Day quiz… there’s a lot of misinformation out there, and the plant world is, unfortunately, no exception. Can you tell the difference between real plants and the most common ai/photoshopped plants we’ve seen recently?

1. ✅ This is an Echeveria ‘Firelight’ succulent, part of our Fleetfoot and Foulweather drop!
2. ❌ While Blue Hostas do exist, there aren’t varieties that are this blue.
3. ❌ There’s some pretty big Elephant Ear plants, but none this pink!
4. ✅ This is a natural Blue Hosta! Not as vibrant as the ai one, but still gorgeous.
5. ❌ Another example of a huge purple Elephant Ear, which don’t naturally grow in this color
6. ✅ This is a Rugosa Rose, which are common in beachy landscapes
7. ✅ Not to be confused with the ai cat face orchid, this is an Oncostele ‘Hot Cats’ Orchid!
8. ❌ This is the ai cat face orchid
9. ✅ This unique flower grows on passion flower vines, which bear passion fruit!
10. ❌ While you may be able to find dyed black roses at a florist, they don’t naturally grow in a rich black color.
