🐾🏑 **DOG FENCES: HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE** 🏑🐾

Keeping your furry friend safe and secure in your yard is a top priority for every pet owner. But with so many options out there, finding the perfect fence for your pup can be overwhelming. Here's a guide to help you make the right choice based on your dog's size, personality, budget, and neighborhood regulations.

1. SIZE OF YOUR DOG:Consider your dog's size and potential for escape. For larger dogs, ensure the fence is tall enough to prevent them from reaching the top rail. For smaller pups, opt for fences with low bottom rails to prevent digging underneath.

2. YOUR DOG'S PERSONALITY: Assess your dog's behavior around fences. Are they jumpers, diggers, chewers, or squeezers? Choose a fence type that addresses their tendencies, whether it's increasing height, burying bottom rails, or opting for chew-proof materials.

3. YOUR BUDGET: Determine your upfront budget and ongoing maintenance preferences. While wood fences may be cheaper initially, they require more maintenance than aluminum or vinyl options. Consider the long-term costs when making your decision.

4. YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD: Check zoning ordinances and Homeowners Association guidelines regarding fence height, style, and location. Ensure your chosen fence complies with local regulations and complements your neighborhood aesthetic.

🌷🏑 Welcome Spring with a Fresh Start for Your Fence! 🏑🌷

As we embrace the arrival of Spring, it's the perfect time to ensure your fence is ready for the season ahead. Here are some essential maintenance tips from T and M Fence Co. Inc. to keep your fence looking its best:

1. Inspect for Damage: Take a walk around your fence perimeter and look for any signs of damage, such as loose boards, leaning posts, or rust spots. Addressing these issues early can prevent further deterioration.

2. Clean Regularly: Use a mild detergent and water to clean dirt, debris, and mildew off your fence. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they can compromise the lifespan of the fence. For stubborn stains, a power washer can be effective, but be sure to use it on a low setting to avoid damaging or splitting the wood or other materials.

3. Trim Vegetation: Trim back any overgrown plants, vines, or bushes that are encroaching on your fence. This not only improves the appearance of your fence but also helps prevent moisture retention and damage. If you want to keep the aesthetics of having plants on your fence just ensure they do not put a lot of weight on the fence and check regularly for signs of mold or mildew.

4. Apply Sealant or Stain: If your fence is made of wood, applying a fresh coat of sealant or stain can help protect it from the elements and prolong its lifespan. If the wood is pressure treated then there is no need to seal unless the fence is showing positive signs of wear. If you have a metal fence remove the rust first then seal with a metal sealant. Use sandpaper or rust remover to remove rust. Be sure to choose a product suitable for outdoor use and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

5. Check Hardware: Inspect hinges, latches, and other hardware for signs of wear or corrosion. Tighten loose screws and lubricate moving parts to ensure smooth operation.

6. Monitor for Pests: Keep an eye out for signs of pest infestation, such as chew marks or burrows near the fence. Addressing pest issues promptly can prevent damage and preserve the integrity of your fence.

7. Keep sprinklers away from wooden fences.

🌟 Fun Fence Fact Alert! 🌟 Did you know that the world's longest fence is not just a small picket line? Nope! It's the Dingo Fence in Australia, stretching a whopping 5,614 kilometers (3,488 miles)! Originally built in the 1880s to protect the country's fertile southeast corner from predatory dingoes, this fence is longer than the Great Wall of China! Talk about keeping the 'roos and dingoes at bay! πŸ¦˜πŸ•
