National Cappuccino Day is Saturday, November 8, 2025

The name "cappuccino" comes from the Capuchin friars in Italy. Their hooded robes were a similar color to the rich, brown hue of the coffee and steamed milk combo. A cappuccino is a coffee beverage made from espresso, steamed milk, and frothed milk. It has become popular for its creamy, frothy texture, versatility, sophistication, and scientific benefits.

It's the perfect day to cozy up with a warm, frothy cup. Whether you prefer it classic or with a twist, let us know your favorite way to enjoy a cappuccino. the holiday is a time to enjoy a specific coffee drink, not to perform yard work.

Nov 1
The Day of the Dead is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2, though other days, such as October 31 or November 6, may be included depending on the locality. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pay respects and remember friends and family members who have died.

The first day is on November 1st and is called Dia de los Angelitos, or day of the little angels. It is meant to honor children who have died. The second day is November 2nd and is devoted to loved ones who died as adults.

While there are a variety of ways to celebrate, including parades, parties at gravesites, and baking a special bread, one of the main focal points is an altar each family sets up in their home or at a gravesite.

You can even learn more about it by watching the Pixar movie “Coco”.

Dia de los Mu***os recognizes death as a natural part of the human experience.

Halloween lawncare involves preparing your lawn by mowing and trimming before setting up decorations, and protecting your lawn by using ground mats or plywood under heavy displays to prevent grass damage. You can also incorporate Halloween themes into your care, such as mowing stripes or leaving grass longer for a cemetery effect, and using fallen leaves for an added spooky touch.

Before Decoration Day
Mow and fertilize your lawn

Why is October 29 National Cat Day?
National Cat Day — Everything You Need to Celebrate National ...
National Cat Day is celebrated on October 29. It was created by Colleen Paige to bring awareness to the number of cats that need to be rescued each year. With 40-70 recognized Cat breeds, there is a cat for all cat lovers.

Cats can be good for your mental health, providing companionship, reducing stress and anxiety through physical touch and purring, and even promoting routine and connection with others. The physical act of petting a cat can increase oxytocin, the "feel-good" hormone, while lowering cortisol, the stress hormone. The calming vibrations of a cat's purr are also linked to a range of physical and mental health benefits, similar to those found in meditation.

purrfect day to give extra attention to your feline friends.

Why do we celebrate National Pasta Day?
This day was created to recognize the importance of pasta in global cuisine and to give food lovers a chance to enjoy their favorite pasta dishes.

Look for pasta in pasta in both savory and dessert dishes. Since it's so versatile, pasta lends itself to sweet and every other dish on the table. Cooks feature pasta as a main dish, but they also serve up delicious hot and cold side dishes as well. And then, of course, those special desserts we can't resist making our mouths water.

Explore the world of pasta. Whether you're cooking up a salad, main dish, or dessert, recipes abound. We offer several on our recipe page, too! If you don't feel like cooking, take the family out to an Italian restaurant. No matter what you are planning, invite friends to join you. It's the best way to Celebrate Every Day®! to post on social media.

National Dessert Day is celebrated annually on October 14th. It's a day to indulge in various sweet treats, from cookies and cakes to pies and ice cream, and can be celebrated by visiting a local bakery, making your favorite dessert at home, or taking advantage of deals at restaurants.

How to Celebrate
Visit a local bakery or shop: Find a local spot to enjoy a favorite dessert or try a new treat.
Make your own dessert: Bake a pie, cookies, or your favorite sweet at home to enjoy with family and friends.
Look for deals: Many restaurants and food brands offer special deals and promotions on National Dessert Day.
Explore different desserts: Try a new type of dessert, like a pastry or cobbler, or revisit a beloved classic.

Consider this:

Edible landscaping refers to the practice of integrating food-producing plants into traditional landscape designs. Instead of solely focusing on ornamental plants, edible landscaping incorporates elements such as edible flowers and ground covers, fruit trees, vegetable and herb plants, and berry bushes and vines into the overall design of a landscape. The result is a vibrant and bountiful landscape that not only looks stunning, but also provides fresh, healthy ingredients for your meals.

10/13/2025

Indigenous Peoples' Day honors the history, culture, and contributions of Indigenous peoples in the United States, recognizing their resilience and inherent sovereignty. The day serves as an alternative to Columbus Day, offering a chance to reflect on the devastating impacts of colonization, displacement, and violence against Native communities, and to renew a commitment to Indigenous rights and self-determination.

Reclaiming History: The shift is intended to provide a more accurate and complete history of the Americas, moving away from the colonial narrative of Columbus's "discovery".

Indigenous Peoples' Day emerged in the late 1980s as an alternative to the celebration of Christopher Columbus, whose arrival initiated a history of colonization and genocide. By focusing on Indigenous peoples, the day offers a more truthful and respectful commemoration of history, emphasizing the perspectives and experiences of those who have been historically marginalized.

The First Inhabitants: The earliest human inhabitants of the Americas arrived from Asia during the last Ice Age, using a land bridge that connected Siberia and Alaska. These groups, including the ancestors of modern Indigenous peoples, began to populate the continent tens of thousands of years ago, well before any European contact.

Acknowledge the Indigenous lands you are on.
Paddle the waters; walk the land.
Plant Native! Native plants support healthy ecosystems.

Think of the impact you can have by planting native species and creating a healthy ecosystem in your very own yard and neighborhood.

Reduce or eliminate turf grass
The manicured grass lawn is a non-native landscape that offers little to local ecosystems. Consider converting some or all of your turf into a diverse habitat for wildlife.
Create native plant beds: Replace a portion of your grass with plants native to your region. These species are adapted to local soil and climate, so they require less water, fertilizer, and maintenance once established.
Plant groundcover alternatives: For areas with light foot traffic, consider planting native mosses, creeping thyme, or sedges, which offer a lush, low-maintenance, and low-water alternative to turf grass.
Use hardscaping: Install patios, walkways, or seating areas using permeable materials like pavers, gravel, or bark chippings to replace grass and reduce stormwater runoff.

10/10/2025

World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10th, aims to raise global awareness about mental health issues and mobilize efforts to support mental well-being. Its purposes include educating the public, counteracting the stigma surrounding mental health conditions, promoting positive mental health practices, and improving access to care and treatment for those who need it.

Raise Awareness: To bring the importance of mental health into public discourse and educate people about mental health issues and their impact.
Advocate for Change: To encourage governments, organizations, professionals, and individuals to promote mental health and advocate for accessible, quality mental health services for all.
Reduce Stigma: To challenge the discrimination and social stigma associated with mental health conditions, creating a more supportive environment for those affected.
Mobilize Support: To unite people and organizations worldwide in support of mental health initiatives and to improve the care and treatment available for people with mental disorders.
Promote Mental Well-being: To highlight the importance of positive mental health practices and to foster a sense of community and connection, which is essential for thriving.

That's when a break to reset may be needed. You've likely heard of someone taking a mental health day, but what does that mean? A mental health day is a day meant to help reduce stress and burnout. It can provide a pause to come back with more energy, less stress and a renewed spirit.

As the renowned biologist and author E.O. Wilson once said, “Nature holds the key to our aesthetic, intellectual, cognitive, and even spiritual satisfaction.”

Spending time in a natural outdoor environment can trigger a relaxation response, reducing the production of stress hormones and calming the nervous system.
The soothing sounds of rustling leaves, chirping birds, and trickling water can help lower stress levels and promote relaxation.
The color green is often associated with feelings of calm, relaxation, and renewal. It’s no wonder that spending time in a garden-like setting can be incredibly soothing.
Observing these creatures can be an enjoyable and grounding experience, connecting you with the natural world.

A beautifully landscaped yard can do wonders for your mental health.

By tailoring your yard to your preferences and needs, we can create a customized retreat that aligns with your vision of tranquility. This level of personalization ensures that your outdoor space feels like a sanctuary tailored just for you.
