I’ve never made an entire process post like this so bear with me.

Renovating can look pretty simple with before and after photos, but here’s a deep dive into my personal process.

When I renovated a hotel, my first step was traveling far, meeting the owner and stepping into the rooms for the first time. I had a cup of coffee in hand, with a measuring tape and a note book and a camera. This is how I design, actually standing in the space and envisioning what it could be.

After creating the design myself, showing the board of people in charge, them loving it, etc….I started ordering everything. Rented an Airbnb for a few months to fit my family (husband and two kiddos) and the temporary move began!

I had keys to the building and most of my work days would start early and end at 2am.

I ordered custom furniture, I took pictures of the lake it sat on myself, printed and framed it. I created large scale art work myself for some of the rooms. I decided to use mineral paint (oh my gosh long process) and painted the walls and ceilings, coat after coat after coat.

So much thought went into the fact that it’s a hotel, so storage and durability was top tier.

The reveal is always my favorite part, as well as taking the after photos.

I never went to college by choice, nor have I advertised my business outside of posting on social media. My focus is working on my craft, and truly believing the right opportunities come to you.
Thats Alchemy 🩷

If you have an extra door that you don’t use in your rig, it’s always good to keep it available in case of emergencies, but that doesn’t mean you have to leave it as is.

I was lucky to have super tall ceilings in this destination trailer, so I opted for a canvas tapestry. I installed it using only little velcro circles around edges, so it can be removed easily. Being canvas it’s extremely light weight as well 🙂

Does it wear anyone else out that 90% (not an actual statistic) of captions are obviously written by ChatGPT?

I love seeing people create and be themselves, but when I read an AI caption it just is so disconnecting for me. Bring back typos and actual thoughts 😣

He even brought his little camping stool to sit down on 🥰❤️

Lucky to have incredible family that has supported me throughout my life in everything I do.

Painting “fake wood” shouldn’t be a temporary feature, you can get factory finish results 🤗

So what’s the difference between and RV and a destination trailer?

A camper, fifth wheel, or Class A/B/C are rigs designed to travel. Usually a bit shorter and lighter weight than destination trailers, usually no lofts.

A destination trailer is designed to be permanently parked, although I can absolutely be transported easily, it’s not made to travel constantly.

The difference in designing one? Not huge. You still have RV functions, wiring, weight limits, and all that fun stuff. But you do get to have more fun with free floating decor. It takes way longer to pack up for the road but that’s no problem when it’s a rare occurrence 🤗

A lot of you wonder what actually happens at Alchemy so here’s what I do ✨

A few times a year I’ll have rigs that I buy, design, upgrade and sell to the public.

I also take on several custom client renovations using their own rigs and design around their own style.

I do design consultations and also do entire design packages. Consults are usual an hour long and completely personalized. I’ll answer questions, share sources, teach my methods and share suggestions.

The Alchemy design package is much more in depth. It’s a completely blue print to an alchemy design, customized to your rig. Loaded with direct links to everything you need to purchase, a priority to do list so you can go at your own pace…all within your budget, weight requirements, measurements and style.

If you follow my social medias you’ll see a mix of inspiration, tutorials, behind the scenes and designer tips! I’m so glad to have you here!

So what makes designing an RV so much different from a home?

First off you’re designing a home that is guaranteed to be hit by an earthquake (travel vibration gets intense)

Your weight limits are not suggestions, they are what keep your rig safe and long lasting.

Smaller areas, thinner walls, rounded corners all make for unique trims, backsplashes, and finishes.

Most of the times you’re working around slide outs, which means flooring have to be thinner.

RV cabinets typically are not solid wood, the painting process is intense (but yes you can get a factory finish)

What challenges have you come across that was a learning curve for you?
