In June 1978, Gary Redekas, the managing partner of American Excellence, L.L.C., Garage Doors & Awnings of Tariffville, CT, quit his job at a local lumber yard to start his own business as a remodeling contractor. In the years that passed, he gained knowledge and experience in all phases of home remodeling. Over the years he was drawn into specializing his business in one aspect of the construction industry. In July 1998, Gary formed a partnership with his wife, Jean, and their son, Steve; and named it American Excellence, L.L.C., Garage Doors. In 2008 they also took on the Sunsetter Awning line of products. In every job they do, the goal is excellence in the finished product. In 2006 Gary successfully completed and is certified with the State of Connecticut's EPA-HUD-approved training in lead-safe work practices. In 2007 Steve also completed and is certified with the State of Connecticut's EPA-HUD-approved training in lead-safe work practices. We have a New Home Construction Contractor License and a Home Improvement Contractor License.
