To ensure proper and stable operation of the gas water heater, adequate combustion air must be provided. When the unit draws air from the room, the room must contain sufficient free air volume.

Water heaters installed in shared utility rooms (e.g., with washers and dryers) are often surrounded by laundry baskets and stored items. These objects reduce available air and may restrict safe operation.

Keep the area around the water heater clear of stored items to maintain proper airflow and safe performance of the gas appliance.
