Terrific progress!

Every day we get closer to this Grand Lady of the Lake's return to her former glory. All windows on the grain elevator have been installed and this reclaimed metal siding is everything 🤩

Note: "Grand Lady of the Lake" is a reference from the book "Reconsidering Concrete Atlantis: Buffalo Grain Elevators" edited by Linda H Schneekloth based on The Grain Elevator Project by the Urban Design Project, School of Architecture and Planning at SUNY Buffalo (shout out to the SUNY system!). The book includes a section called "The Grand Ladies of the Lake" by Ivonne Jaeger.https://regional-institute.buffalo.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/155/2021/12/Reconsidering-Concrete-Atlantis-Buffalo-Grain-Elevators.pdf

Help SAVE our tower! Rather than a costly ramp, an ADA compliant kiosk can be created for the Potawatomi Park Tower. The County already has a ramp on the Peninsula Park Tower, we do not need another. We haven't been able to use the Potawatomi Park Tower in many years. If the more expensive option is chosen, the State of Wisconsin will use this as argument to raze the tower instead of putting in an expensive ramp. Please save the Pot Park Tower!

Saving a cultural as well as an architectural structure such as the Door County Granary is a vital part of the "whole." New is great, but preserving history is crucial.

In case you haven’t heard... In March, the Door County Granary design by LA DALLMAN won a prestigious design award from ARCHITECT magazine. The Progressive Architecture Awards celebrate projects that exemplify architecture in service of the greater good.

The design by LA DALLMAN was one of six designs selected and was the sole design featured on the March magazine cover. We are so happy to be working with LA DALLMAN on this project and we are proud of the design they have created. Seeing the final product will be an incredible experience.
