Juneteenth specifically commemorates the day news of emancipation finally reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas (two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation). Tweaking the first sentence to reflect that adds a layer of historical accuracy that shows real intentionality.
Today, we recognize Juneteenth, the day marking when word of freedom finally reached the last enslaved Black Americans in the United States. Today and every day, we honor the freedom, resilience, and rich contributions of the Black community throughout our history.
For Huntzberry, this day is a reminder that building strong communities means more than the work we do on our job sites. It means respecting the people who make those communities what they are, creating opportunity, and continuing to move forward together.
As we reflect on this important day, we honor the progress that has been made while recognizing the work that still continues.
