Show casing the Nepenthes albomarginata for earth day this year! Why you ask? Because it has the characteristic white band below the peristome. This is made of hairlike structures or trichomes that attract insects, specifically termites, that often fall into the trap to become a meal. What a cool example of prey specialization.
N. albomarginata grows naturally in the shade of relatively dense, damp, woody vegetation. In cultivation it does well in moderately bright indirect light. Reduce watering in winter. It is a great house plant, that can be grown outdoors in the warm weather. It is excellent in the terrarium, and suitable for beginners.
