5:30PM: I am becoming increasingly concerned about the strong west surge of wind that is likely to occur later tonight. As of now, it is looking like the onset of that surge will be about 11PM for north Port Angeles, and Sequim. And then 12AMor so for Whidbey and Camano Island, west Skagit and Snohomish County. If this verifies, gusts over 60mph out of the west will hit Whidbey, and gusts over 50mph+ out of the west will hit west Snohomish and Skagit counties. It will also head into the foothills and mountains.

If this verifies, even 5-10mph weaker than this will be damaging with the saturate soils. That and Snohomish County in particular does not do well with strong westerly wind. I hate to say it, but what is showing in the models kind of reminds me of November 4th 2022. One thing that event had going for it was leafs still on some trees, and the trees were brittle after a long dry summer and early Autumn. What tonight has going for it is super saturated soils. Let’s just hope the model is overdoing the wind by a lot, but prepare for the worst. Charge your devices, etc. I will be out watching for this later to see how it comes in and will be reporting. The forecast for the rest of the state remains on track, and almost everywhere has some kind of wind headline.
