Sunday reflection 💚

Tomorrow the kids go back to school, and somehow another summer is already behind us.

I swear every year summer starts with this feeling that we have so much time. Time for slow mornings, late nights, swimming, little adventures, staying in pajamas too long, and saying “we’ll do that next week.”

And then suddenly… you’re packing backpacks and realizing next week turned into September. 🥹

Running a business from home while the kids are home for summer is equal parts wonderful and absolute chaos. There were plenty of days when orders were being packed, plants were being watered, someone needed a snack, someone else couldn’t find their shoes, and I was trying to remember what I walked into a room for. 😂

But I know there will come a summer when my house isn’t this loud. When nobody is interrupting me every four minutes. When they have their own plans and I’m not the center of their little world anymore.

So even though I’m definitely ready for a little routine again… I’m not quite ready for this summer to be over. 💚

Tomorrow starts a new chapter for all of us.

The plants are watered-ish, the coffee is doing its best, and this leaf decided to show up looking like an entire Saturday night outfit. ✨

💚 The Biggest Mistake People Make With Variegated Plants

More light does not always equal more variegation.

I hear this all the time:
“I’ll just move it closer to the light so it gets whiter.”

Here’s what actually happens:

🌿 Variegation is genetic. Light won’t create variegation that isn’t already there.

☀️ Good light helps the plant maintain healthy growth and can help existing variegation express itself consistently.

⚠️ Too much direct light can burn the white sections first because they don’t contain chlorophyll to protect themselves.

📉 Too little light often leads to smaller leaves, slower growth, and sometimes less stable variegation over time.

The goal isn’t maximum light…
It’s consistent, bright, indirect light that lets the plant grow without stress.
