Dear Somerset,
I replaced my 1958 front porch columns today and the carpenter doing the removal found this tag attached to the top of the column cap. Thought you might like to see it.

A snowy staying in day is good for us to share some stories from the past. This article from The Republic, Meyersdale, Pennsylvania on Thursday, January 28, 1943 stated "The Somerset Door and Column company is practically 100 percent a war production plant according to Harvey J. Beabes, general manager." The funny thing about this article is we still make some atypical wooden articles.

Congratulations to Keith Miller on his retirement from Somerset Door & Column!
Keith originally started working at the company in the mid 80s. President Bob McVicker was pleased to say that he actually hired Keith twice at a surprise presentation earlier this month! Today his retirement was celebrated with lunch and cake.

We wish Keith all the best and hope he enjoys spending more time with his wife Michele.
