Sonoma Valley Wholesale Nursery is a locally-owned wholesale nursery dedicated to the practice of growing sustainable plant material without the use of pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides. We specialize in plants and trees particularly suited to thrive in the California wine country's wet winters and long dry summers. Our goal is to provide landscapers, architects, gardeners and retail nurseries

with a local resource for landscape plants and materials that use less water, fertilizer, and require fewer inputs. We strive to grow plants that integrate better using soils that are more compatible with the native environment.

All week, we’re featuring plants from the nursery that bring beauty to the garden while helping support the pollinators that keep our local landscapes thriving.

Today’s plant is Epilobium canum, commonly known as California Fuchsia. Its bright red, tubular flowers are a favorite nectar source for hummingbirds—and they also attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

This California native is a standout for Sonoma County gardens: drought-tolerant once established, easy to grow, and full of color when many summer gardens need it most.

Join us for a fun, hands-on workshop where you'll create your own pollinator-friendly planter and learn how to support bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other important pollinators in your garden.

This month's workshop is especially exciting as we welcome Codi Hale from Pollinator Partnership's Bee Friendly Gardening network. Codi will share practical tips on native plants, native bees, pollinator habitat, and simple ways to support pollinator health throughout the year.
