Freeze-dried Sourdough starter Care Instructions

Day 1: Rehydrate starter with 2tsp un- chlorinated water (de-chlorinated tap water or bottled spring water). Rehydrate for 24hrs

Day 2: Feed starter with 50g rye flour and 50mL water (3Tbsp + 1tsp).

Day 3: discard half of Day 2 starter. Feed with flour of your choice 100g and 100mL un-chlorinated water.
"Day4": at this point you can Feed at 8hr or 12hr intervals. Repeat discard and Feed Instructions for Day 3.

Day 5: your starter should be ready for baking. Use in baking AFTER feeding, 8hrs at least.

--> It is best to educate yourself on how to feed, maintain, and use sourdough starter.

This is why I need fencing around my garden now that the chickens are free ranging.
Hoping Crossing Festival will go well so I can raise the money for t-post, fencing, and gates.

Time to feed the worms🪱
It's totally normal to have worm bins in your basement right?

I got into vermicomposting this past winter. It is the fasted way, in my experience, to break down food waste and have a usable product for the garden within 6 months... and during the winter! The bins don't smell even though there is decomposing food in there because the worms are eating it before the gases release. I am going to add more worms to make the composting processes so quicker but then I'll have to feed more volume more often so I don't have run away worms (which does happen!)
Today I fed them some coffee grounds and old lettuce. I feed them about very two weeks.

Ok gotta do something with these peppers and cherry tomatoes. Looks like I'll be canning small batches of stuff today 🤷‍♀️.
At the end of the season this is what canning looks like; a few jars here and there of random stuff:
🌾Cowboy Candy
🍃Pickled Roasted Red Peppers
🍂Frozen, diced bell peppers
🍁Marinated cherry tomatoes (for the fridge).

A good haul from the garden this morning. Peppers are still turning red and tomatoes are blushing good.

We will be set up (across from Mountain Mikes) with a selection of 100% handmade earrings, uncommon freeze fried candy, freeze dried home-grown herbs and possibly some sourdough snacks.

This coming weeks temps have me glowing!!
Perfect time to get things ready for Crossings Festival, Glendale October 18th, and get a few homestead projects started that the heat has made me put off.
