This repeat customer contacted us after discovering a concrete slab hidden under their old deck during a deck replacement project.

The slab was pitched heavily toward the house and had several large concrete piers that needed to be removed. We broke everything up, hauled it away, and regraded the area so water drains away from the foundation.

Sometimes the source of a drainage problem is hiding where you least expect it.

On this project, we installed a swale to redirect runoff away from the pool area, then finish graded with topsoil, seed, and straw for a clean final result.

This newly built garage had surface water collecting around the perimeter, creating muddy conditions and allowing moisture to sit directly against the building.

We installed a curtain French drain system to intercept the water and carry it away from the garage before it could build up around the slab. The entire perimeter was then finished with 3/4" clean stone for a clean appearance and to help keep the area dry year round.

Since the area was already excavated, we also installed wire mesh around the perimeter of the garage to help keep animals from getting underneath the slab and nesting under the building later on.

Small details like this make a big difference long-term.

This homeowner was getting water in the basement next to the driveway during heavy rain events. The downspouts were dumping too much water into one area and it had nowhere to go.

We installed a new underground downspout drainage system to collect the roof water and carry it away from the foundation to a proper discharge location.

After the recent storms, the homeowner reached back out to let us know the problem is now 100% fixed.

Most basement water problems start outside. Controlling roof runoff before it saturates the soil around the foundation is one of the most important parts of keeping a basement dry.

This property had an existing 4" discharge line that simply could not handle the amount of stormwater coming down the driveway during heavy rain events. The system would back up and send water into the garage.

We installed a new 12" culvert pipe connected directly to the existing inlet basin to dramatically increase the amount of water the system can move. We also regraded and restored the area once the installation was complete.

Many drainage problems stem from undersized piping. Water can only move as fast as the system allows, and in this case the original line was the bottleneck.

A&J Drainage Solutions is looking to bring on a reliable team member to help with our growing workload this season.

What we do: We install drainage systems — French drains, downspout systems, grading, and water management solutions.

Responsibilities:

Assist on job sites with drainage system installation
Stage materials and keep jobs running efficiently
Drive a small dump truck (when needed)
Help with grading, pipe installation, and site cleanup
Learn to operate equipment (mini excavator, skid steer, etc.)

What we’re looking for:

Shows up on time and works hard
Willing to learn and take direction
Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
Valid driver’s license
Experience is a plus, but not required — we’ll train the right person

Pay: $18–$28/hour depending on experience
