Goebbert's Farm - South Barrington

Goebbert's Farm - South Barrington Goebbert's is more than a farm - an experience for every season: spring gardening, summer fresh produce and fall magic for everyone.

Goebbert’s has been in the farm market business since 1948. George Goebbert started a roadside vegetable stand in Arlington Heights at the corner of Algonquin and Goebbert Road. In the beginning, we had a card table or sometimes a wagon filled with produce to sell. The only way to Chicago before the toll way was built was the road we were located on so most of our traffic was from the Arlington Ra

ce Track. After the races, people would stop by on their way back home to get produce. As soon as the toll way was added and buildings began to pop up, the traffic coming from Arlington Race Track began to decrease and local traffic increased. In the 1950s, we started selling pumpkins and had a much smaller variety of animals and what we call agriculture entertainment. We could tell people really enjoyed what has grown to be our fall festival. In 1972, Jim Goebbert bought this farm in South Barrington and moved his family here. This location was initially a dairy farm so there have been many renovations since the purchase. Jim, Esther and the kids began to run the pumpkin stand while I maintained the produce stand in Arlington Heights. One day, the farm got so busy that I closed the stand and came to help with the customers. We have been busy ever since. We wanted to make Goebbert’s a destination farm so in 1979, we had the fiberglass pumpkin, “Happy Jack” made for the silo. Happy Jack measures 18 feet wide, 15 feet tall, weighs one ton, and is a landmark for many people. This farm is comprised of 40 acres. The market and the house are the only buildings that are still standing since we purchased this farm in 1972. In 1976, we began to sell flowers and grew almost everything out of a small greenhouse. We continued with produce sales throughout the summer and have continued to expand ever since. In 1985, we opened Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch, our second location in Hampshire. This 200 acre farm is open to the public in late September for the fall festival. Throughout the rest of the year, we are busy raising all the vegetables that we sell in our South Barrington market starting in July.

If you've visited in June before, you know our market can look a little empty this time of year.

That's because we're in the middle of one of our seasonal transitions. Over the next two weeks, we're preparing the market for the arrival of our fresh produce! 🌽🍓🥒

While the shelves may look a little different right now:
✨ We've refreshed our displays
✨ Restocked local favorites
✨ Brought in new chips to the General Store, including Lemon, Chile Lemon, and Cinnamon Sugar flavors

Behind the scenes, our team is also heading to Atlanta to shop for next spring, looking for new planters, products, and inspiration for the seasons ahead.

And before long, those open spaces will be filled with the fresh fruits and vegetables you've been waiting for all season.

Fresh produce arrives June 19, and we can't wait to share another summer harvest with you. Until then, stop in, explore what's new, and enjoy watching the market transform for the season ahead.

Early June Saturdays tend to be a little quieter around here... and honestly, that's part of the charm. 🌿

Take your time wandering through rows of beautiful flowers, hanging baskets, and garden favorites while everything is looking its best.

Then make a stop at the Red Barn Café and treat yourself to an iced Sweet Honey Bee • our refreshing blend of honey and lavender that's quickly becoming a summer favorite. 🐝☕

Whether you're planting, shopping, or simply enjoying a peaceful morning, we'd love to see you this weekend.

🍔 Weekend plans? We’ve got lunch covered.

While we’ll have a few special features this weekend, we wanted to take a moment to shine the spotlight on one of our favorites.

Our burger starts with your choice of one or two juicy patties and is stacked high with crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, cheese, onion, house-made pickles, and Chef Nick’s secret sauce. Simple ingredients, done right.

Whether you're stopping in after shopping the garden center, meeting a friend for lunch, or looking for an easy family meal, this is the kind of burger that hits the spot every time.

Trust us • you’ll be happy you made this choice. 🍔✨

Join us at the café this weekend and see what everyone is talking about. We can't wait to serve you!

Happiness is homemade… and so are some of the very best summer memories. 🌿☀️

June has a way of reminding us to slow down. To linger a little longer on the porch. To enjoy morning coffee with a friend. To gather around the table with family. To admire the flowers you’ve planted and the beauty that’s growing right outside your door.

We believe happiness isn’t something you find • it’s something you create. Whether that’s planting a few flowers, spending time with those who matter most, or treating yourself to a peaceful afternoon, we’re here to help make those moments a little more beautiful.

And while you’re visiting this weekend, stop by the Red Barn Café. Meet a friend for coffee, enjoy lunch with family, or simply take a moment for yourself and soak in the season.

Here’s to sunshine, blooming gardens, meaningful connections, and making the most of June. ❤️🌸🌱
