We've been hard at work bringing the long abandoned industrial bakery building back to life, and business are beginning to move in. Join us at Indiana's Statewide Preservation Conference later this week where esteemed speakers Mr. Eric Stalheim, Director of Historic Preservation at Kil Architecture/Planning, and David Pirchio and Joe Klatt from Frost Engineering will discuss their innovative work on the preservation of St Adalbert Church, a 1926 iconic Neo-Gothic masonry building located in South Bend's historic west side. They will discuss their use of advanced technology and on-site field inspections used to develop innovative design solutions that enhance the church building's durability and structural integrity while preserving its architectural character.

We are excited to lead the design for the New Day Intake Center. This is a new low-barrier housing project in South Bend, Indiana, aimed at providing shelter and support to the city's homeless population. Yesterday, we participated in the groundbreaking ceremony, marking a significant milestone in this vital initiative.

Continued progress on the Heritage and Research Center at St. Mary's College. Currently the roof trusses are being installed and the building is taking shape.

The Heritage and Research Center at St. Mary's College is taking shape. Load bearing concrete block walls are going up, which will be clad in brick and stone. We're excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the architectural character of this beautiful campus.

Excited for St. Adalbert Parish Church in South Bend Indiana re-roof construction by Dudeck sheet metal and roofing. Their team has installed scaffolding and work deck at eve level and started the demolition of the nave roof section along the south side. Stay tuned for photo updates as the construction progresses.

We are excited to announce Sam Lima as Director of Planning for Kil Architecture/Planning. Sam joined the Kil Architecture Team in 2012 after completing his Master of Architectural Design & Urbanism at the University of Notre Dame, School of Architecture with a concentration in Urban Design and his Master of Architecture and B.A. in Architectural Studies from Judson University, School of Art, Design, and Architecture with a concentration in Traditional Architecture and Urbanism. Sam is passionate about learning from and working to create cities, neighborhoods, and buildings that beautifully and equitably shelter and serve their inhabitants. He led the design effort for Traditions Townhomes in South Bend and has developed multiple Master Plans for areas in our community including the 100 Center in Mishawaka and South Bend neighborhoods. Sam is active in the arts, music, and soccer communities of South Bend, his faith community, and is an avid paddler on his stretch of the St. Joseph River. Please help us to congratulate Samuel on his new position!

Congratulations to Eric Stalheim as he is promoted to Director of Historic Preservation for Kil Architecture/Planning. Eric joined the Kil Architecture Team in 2017 after completing his Master of Science in Historic Preservation at the University of Notre Dame’s School of Architecture as the program’s inaugural student after completed his Bachelor of Architecture at Iowa State University. Eric has completed designs for many complex Historic Rehabilitations and Restorations for the firm and is a Board Member for the local not-for-profit South Bend TradeWorks. Eric is a long-standing preservation advocate in our community who engages professionally and individually in hands on design solutions. We are excited to elevate Eric in this new position!

Excited to be leading the design efforts for St. Adalbert's Church which has been chosen to receive a $250,000 matching grant from The National Fund for Sacred Places which is a program of Partners for Sacred Places in collaboration with The National Trust for Historic Preservation.
