Two days to go until our Grand Reopening Celebration! We are still open and celebrating our next chapter under new ownership. Join us on Saturday, June 13 for $2 off admission all day and lots of family friendly activities, including:

🪄🩵 Meet Houdini! Our Blue-tongued skink lives in the Conservatory and is retired from meeting visitors up close.

While most of his species are solitary, Houdini became quite the escape artist and we adapted his home so he wouldn’t escape to explore the Conservatory. While skinks have short legs and aren’t typically good climbers, they are known for having no fear of heights and walking off of high ledges.

Other fun facts:

🔹 Blue-tongued skinks are native to Australia
🔹 They live 20+ years
🔹 They grow up to 2’
🔹 Females give live birth to babies that grow in soft egg sacs inside of them
🔹 They have very strong jaws that help them crush snail shells

We are so excited to welcome visitors to our Grand Reopening Celebration this Saturday, June 13 from 10am-2pm!

There will be some incredible local vendors on site with their handcrafted goods available. Pick up some beautiful butterfly art, hand-blown glass pendants and vases, jewelry, and enjoy a delicious sweet treat from that looks (almost) too good to eat.

We'll have face painting, fairy hair, henna, and more fun family friendly activities throughout the event.

Admission is $2 off all day to celebrate! We look forward to seeing you there!

Don’t you just love spring? We’ve got a week full of special programs happening across the libraries!

From special playgroups at Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory with Brie's Balloons, to a community meal and book club at our Montague Center Branch, and a collage bookmark workshop at our Millers Falls Branch with local artist Jillian Henry ()—there’s something for everyone this week. We’re also diving into local history with events like a Battlefield Walking Tour led by our friend David Brule of the Nolumbeka Project.

With so much to choose from, you might just have to pick more than one. Which one will we see you at?

Calling all littles and their grown ups! Our Pollinator Playroom is officially open for play during your visit to Magic Wings. Stop by to enjoy toys, puzzles, and fun!

Montague Public Libraries is hosting a free play group every Wednesday from 1-2pm in the playroom through the end of August. Receive $1 off your admission to the Conservatory when you come to playgroup. Listen to stories, sing songs, and enjoy fun with friends.
