In the world of aged spirits, barrel quality is universally recognized as a pillar in shaping the aromatic profile. Yet behind every barrel lies a fundamental and often underestimated element: the stave. Carefully selected, fully traceable, and precisely prepared, the stave is the true origin of every high-quality cask.

At Graf Brothers, the OAKING division specialized in American white oak (Quercus Alba) processing, each log is selected, identified, and tracked from the moment it enters the sawmill. The wood is then quarter-sawn and rift-sawn a more demanding technique than traditional flat sawing.

This method ensures that the growth rings are oriented nearly perpendicular to the face of the board — a critical condition to:
- reduce the risk of splitting,
- ensure dimensional stability,
- and enhance the release of aromatic oak compounds.

Friends & Neighbors of Graf Brothers,
In conjunction with Allard Excavation & Dave Burton Trucking we will be accepting donations this week for the victims of Hurricane Helene. Our donations will be sent to Georgetown Missionary Baptist Church. This church is located northwest of Asheville in Leciester, NC. Below are the types of items they are asking for. If you have donations, please have them dropped off to our Security Garage located at 679 Johnson Lane South Shore, KY 41175 by Thursday October 10th. If you choose to donate money in exchange of items, please deliver to Crystal McKenzie at the main office. Any monetary donations will be used to purchase additional supplies to be sent south.
