I found a box of old recordings from our years as professional violinists.
To many people, it would look like a box of outdated technology. Old CDs, DVDs, mini discs, and media that most people can’t even play anymore.
But inside are precious memories I could never replace.
Grad school performances from years ago. Recordings of my husband and me. A trio performance with my dad before he passed away.
This is why, in the decluttering process, I never assume something is “just junk.”
Sometimes an item has served its purpose and is ready to leave. Other times, what looks like clutter from the outside is actually a treasured piece of someone’s story.
Part of honoring our memories is taking the time to recognize the difference.
Decluttering isn’t about getting rid of the past. It’s about making room for what matters most.
