Just started a load of laundry in the dryer. Heating the greenhouse!

By the way: If you have pansies planted in your yard, or in pots on your porch, to prepare for a hard freeze sprinkle a little fertilizer around them. Just a little 10-10-10, 14-14-14, Peters Violet Food or Osmocote will do. Water well (ice won't hurt pansies, and in fact, it will help protect the plants). The fertilizer will raise the ground temperature a few degrees.

That said, fertilizing should only be done once a month, or every 3 weeks at most. Let's not go overboard, here.

This has been a crazy year, weather wise. In a normal cycle, our backyard fig tree would have produced two crops of fruit. This year the spring crop was delayed, and the fall crop never ripened. The pineapple sage was similarly confused, and only bloomed in October. Now, this early cold snap -- VERY cold. Tonight's low is forecast anywhere from 22F to 18F or thereabouts. Going to be cold and windy all day today, so not a good day to push leaves. Sounds like a good 'planning' day.
